Baby Boy Nursery: No Theme Necessary

If you read my list of 20 random facts about me in my last post then you saw that I love a good diy project, and decorating my home is how I show love to my family. I want to make an inviting, comfortable space, and I just like to make things pretty.

One of my very favorite rooms in our home is Henry's nursery. It is probably the room that I put the most thought into, and almost every piece in there has a story. It was either painted by me, made by Pa, hung by Daddy...I am pretty sentimental about it all, and I want to share with you all.

In the photo below, the Peter Pan poster was picked out by Henry's daddy and is a nod to my love for all things Disney. The blue blanket on the back of the chair was made by my aunt Patti. The bowling pin was a gift from a very dear friend, and the wooden crate turned side table was made by my dad, Henry's Pa. That changing table was a freebie, but Mama (I refer myself to Mama when talking Henry...ignore that if it is weird) spent some time turning a dark brown paint job bright white, and those curtains were polka dotted by yours truly.

The wooden shelves contain a photo from my maternity session, a frame from my sister, the Royals hat we bought the day we found out he was a Henry, and a vintage toy camera from a sweet church friend. It also holds the night lite I used as a baby and one of my old teething toys that my mom saved.

This old schoolroom map was something that we picked up a few years ago and knew we would find the right place for it. This is the first place it has hung, and it couldn't be more perfect.

That little skunk was a gift from Daddy to Mama, and the wooden camera was mine from my childhood. The airplane is one from Daddy's collection, and the bulldog was a lucky find in a random, junky antique store. I love planters, and our town's mascot is the bulldog. Score.
This is one of my favorite parts. The gallery wall has a vintage coloring book from a sweet friend, a picture of cousin Georgie, the moon art I made for him, the triangle art I made with Georgie, another photo from our maternity session, a vintage baby ad that I bought years ago and saved, and my favorite piece, the clover from Pa. As long as I can remember my dad can find a four leaf clover anywhere. Actually, he would come in the house with a handful at a time! I had planned on having him pick one for me to frame for Henry, but just before that I found some that I had saved and pressed in one of my childhood books. I framed that instead, and it means even more to me now.

My sister went above and beyond on a shower and gifts for us because she was worried nothing would be as good as what I would do. She hit it out of the park with everything, and this idea was another example. My dad made the sign and created the stencil, and I don't know if I will ever take it down.
This sweet boy has changed our entire world for the better. He may be a little nap hater, but that toothless grin is the best thing I have ever seen. He is the reason for everything I do, and he has my whole heart.

Thank you for taking a peek inside my world!
